Installation

General for Mac users:

First see the system requirements section.

You have the requirements met? Good. X-Plane will NOT install any control panels or extensions in your system folder. It is simply a STUFFIT archive that you extract to wherever you like on your hard drive. That's it! It does not put anything anywhere in your system folder, so it cannot corrupt your system in any way.

After you have run X-Plane, it will save some preferences in your "preferences" folder, though. You can just delete these preferences files to return to the default state if you ever think the settings got corrupted.

How to Install for Mac users:

All you do is double-click on the STUFFED (compressed) version of X-Plane you want to use on your X-Plane CD and let it extract to your hard drive. That's it. X-Plane will then be in a folder called "X-System" on your hard disc, ready to fly. (and no, you do NOT need to restart!) See the file "How to Install.txt" on the CD for detailed information on choosing what file to install, catching the latest release notes, etc.
